A Day in Our Life

Welcome to a day in the life of Jen (and Emma and Ethan). This is when it usually begins somewhere around 4 AM. Ethan gets a little hungry around this time so I get up and change him and feed him. It took me a while to get him to go back to sleep today. Finally around 5 he was asleep again. We went back upstairs and he started fussing again around 6:30 or so. I brought him into our bed and stalled him until:

Not bad, huh? This is when our day officially started. We were back downstairs for another bottle and to catch up on the day's news. This is the sweet little face I get to look at every day.
Today was going to be a fun day. We were meeting our friends, Jill and Sam, at the Providence Children's Museum. Emma is my late sleeper so I went up to get her and this is how she greeted me.
I thought she might need a few minutes so I went into our room and made the bed.
That was all she needed. We went downstairs and Ethan had a little swing so I could get Emma and my breakfast.

Here's what I had:

Next I went up to get Ethan and myself dressed. Ethan went from this:

to this...my little Red Sox fan. Who needs Manny?
Ethan hung out to talk to some of his friends while Emma watched cartoons. This is when I packed the diaper bag.
I next had to get Emma dressed and hair into pig tails with as little arguments as possible. Yeah right, so what I did was I asked her to let me do her hair. She said no. Then I pretended to call Jill and tell her we couldn't come. Well, low and behold, Emma is suddenly ready to let me do her hair.

Finally we were in the car on our way.

We had to park on the street because the lot was full.
Emma and Sam were so excited to see each other.
Once in the museum we went right to the Veterinary area. Dr. Emma and Dr. Sam had a lot of fun in there.

Ethan did too...

Next it was onto the water area. We spent about 2 minutes in there. Emma got her hands wet and said, "I've had enough of this." And that was that. We were moving on.

We headed up the ramp to the second floor and the construction area. I think we were there about one minute before Emma had to go to the bathroom. Why she wouldn't go downstairs with Sammy three minutes earlier I don't know but she's two....I guess that's the reason.

Coming back from the bathroom

They both loved the skeleton bike guy.

I don't think Sammy liked this lady all that much. He jumped right down after this picture.
We spent a while in Little Woods too. There is a slide and animal costumes. There is also a little cave and river to play in and around. Our two turtles had a ton of fun there.
On the way out we checked out the bone area one more time. Next year Ethan will have a little more fun here.
Jill was super sweet and bought Emma a cute little race helmet that she insisted "kept the sun out" or her eyes. Sammy picked up another fire chief hat to add to his collection.
I didn't take any pictures but we headed over to the Burger King over near Garden City for some lunch. We chose that one because it has a play area. When we arrived there was a sign on the door that said the play area was closed for repairs, oh no! Just as we were discussing other options a nice man pulled the sign off the door and said that the repairs were done and we could play. Whew, disaster averted. We ate and played for about another hour before we were on our way.
Sam and Emma did great. We had zero meltdowns all day and they left the play area without much of a fuss. I was sure Emma would fall asleep on the way home but no, no nap today.

Once home she "rested" on the couch for a while so I could get my chores done...like laundry.

Checking my email and message boards...

Making my sink go from this:

To this:

My living room from this...

to this:
The keen eye in you might be thinking, "Hey you didn't fold that laundry on the chair." Well this is why:
So it was back to talk to his friends.

Mission Accomplished!

I played with the little man for a while.

Emma was excited her magazine came in the mail today.

and we played some Guitar hero. She was having her "nudie time", I was not!

Ethan took a little snooze so I could...
Start Dinner

That's about when Josh got home.

After dinner Josh headed off to his softball game and I got the kiddos ready for bed. Ethan waited in Emma's bed for Em to get her jammies on.

They both listened to two stories.

Then Ethan and I headed down to get his jammies on and have his nighttime bottle.

Finally both kids are asleep.
I got to head down to clean up the kitchen, watch my DVR's Big Brother episode, and type this up.

That's it. Now I'm going to bed too so I can do it all over again tomorrow, Goodnight!
