Playdate and Pics

Yesterday Jill and Sam came over to spend the afternoon with us. Sammy and Emma play so well together and I always enjoy Jill's company.

Sam is a gentleman and skimmed the pool for Emma

Sam the Man
Now that I have a boy I am a little concerned. Above is the best picture I could get of Sam. That boy is FAST! I have a pretty quick camera but it couldn't even catch him. Most of the pics I got looked like this:

Is that how boys are? No wonder Jill is so tiny!

Hide-n-seek
Emma gave Jill and I a huge scare in the afternoon. We were hanging out by the pool since it was so nice. Sam and Emma were walking around the pool deck while I held Ethan and chatted with Jill. Then we heard a splash. Jill took Ethan and I dove into the pool. Emma had fallen in across the pool and I got to her quickly. It was still scary that she was in the water alone. She wanted to get out of the pool and out of her bathing suit right away. I think they were trying to reach a raft in the water. After relaxing on the couch for a while she was better. I am not sure that I am yet though.

Last night when I was tucking her into bed she said to me, "Mommy, I was brave today." She was brave she kept kicking her feet in that water until I got to her. She was keeping her face out of the water. What a tough little lady.

Now for the Ethan boy. I really can't get over how grown up he is to me. Do the second ones grow faster?

I am not sure what the monkey said but it must have been pretty intense.

The Fourth and Rye

Well this is really before the 4th. We had such nice weather we did a lot of hanging by the pool. Ethan is such a great baby. He fell asleep with me holding him (shocker there, I'm always holding him) in the pool with our neighbors, Lucas and Jake playing with us. I swear this boy can sleep anywhere.

Emma was very helpful the other day. Ethan was napping in his swing and began to cry. I was in the kitchen and I heard Emma yell, "I'll make him stop crying." Well he did stop crying and this is how I found him. Apparently he was lonely in the swing and needed some buddies to sleep with. I guess sisters know best.

The Fourth Of July

Ethan's shirt says, "Mommy's Little Firecracker"

Happy Birthday Grandma Jean!

Rye Beach, NH

We had a ton of fun up in Rye this weekend. It was Ethan's first trip to the beach and as you can see he is beach bum in the making.
Emma will make a great wife someday. Look at how she can direct her dad to complete her sandcastle to her strict specifications.

The Annual Treasure Hunt

Emma was pretty happy with the booty. I loved the rings. I just took mine, I mean Emma's, off.

Thanks Aunt Jean and Uncle John. We always have a wonderful time at the cottage.

We ended up staying the night in Rye at what we lovingly dubbed "the Stabbin' Cabin". We managed to squeeze my mom, dad, Lauren, Bobby, his girlfriend Ashley, and the 4 of us into a one bedroom cabin. It was really fun and we giggled a lot. On the way home we just had to swing into Kittery where Emma picked up some super cool glasses to add to her collection. I also got the cutest outfits for Ethan's 3 month pictures later this month. I'll make you wait for that though.

What's better than a movie that Mom and Dad don't have to listen to?

In other big news Ethan rolled over. It was just once and probably a fluke but he did it on Sunday. He is almost 11 weeks now. Josh and Bobby got to see it too. There were cheers all around.

New Mom Mobile

Bye, Bye Volvo...I do love my Volvo but it shrunk considerably once Ethan came along so this week we bought a 2004 Honda Odyssey. Nanny and Grampy are going to buy the Volvo from us so we will get to see it all the time. Emma is very excited about the new car. It has a DVD player so what more does she need to know? So who needs a ride to Rye? We will be watching Nemo and Toy Story.

2 Months, yesterday!

Can you believe Ethan is 2 months already? Wasn't he just in my belly making my life completely uncomfortable? He is fitting well into our little family. We cut the tags off a while ago so we are keeping him. I feel like a "real mom" now that I have two. It is a lot busier that before Ethan came. For such a little guy he has us on our toes.

He celebrated his 2 month birthday with a trip to the doctor's office. He is growing well. He weighed 13 pounds 8 ounces and was 23.25 inches long. He is in the 95%tile for weight and head and 75th for his length so he is staying on the same path which is great. The poor guy got three shots which included a lot of screaming on his part. He turned about 6 shades of purple. He is fine now though so no worries.

His newest milestones include lots of coos and giggles. He also discovered his hand on Monday. It is so cute to watch him follow it by his face. Today he was grabbing the toys on his little gym too. My baby is growing up too fast!

Now for some pics!

I wish I had taken more pictures later on but I guess I was too busy at the open bar to remember that at the time. Thanks for having us Mark and Carolyn and have a great time in Italy.

For Babies

Last night Emma and I began a little art project.

Once completed it looked like this:

Next, Emma put all of her diapers inside our pretty bag.

After the last diaper was in...

She carried them over for Ethan because Ethan is a baby and he needs diapers. Emma is now a big girl and doesn't need them.

I am very afraid to say it outloud but I think Emma is now potty trained. She has been doing well for a few days now and making it through the night too. Way to go Emma!

and HAPPY BIRTHDAY Grandpa Bud!

Please excuse the appearance of Emma's hair...she was fresh out of the tub.

Emma's Day

Today Emma, Ethan, and I went to the mall and a few other locations that must remain a mystery. We had a few things to return or exchange and a father's day gift to buy. On the way to the mall Emma and I had a conversation very similar to conversations that we usually have in the car.

Emma: Where are we going?

Mommy: We are going to the store to buy daddy a present.

Emma: Why we buying daddy a present?

Mommy: Because Father's Day is coming so we have to get daddy a present like you bought for me on Mother's Day.

Emma: oh I remember.

a few minutes later...

Emma: Hey Mommy, today is Emma's Day.

Mommy: I know, everyday is Emma's Day.

Holy Moley

Why does being a parent make you say things like, "Holy Moley"? I don't think I used that one before Emma. Anyway, Holy Moley! Look how big Ethan is getting. He is about 3 days old in the bottom one and 6 weeks in the picture to the right.

oh...and that is Manny the Monkey.

Emma is still totally into Ethan. She only likes getting her picture taken when Ethan is getting his done. That means most of his pics will have Emma in the top of them.

"Hi!"

and finally the "smile".

I'm so Angry!

This weekend we went to Hanna's 4th birthday party. It was a princess party so Emma was totally in her element. They had a pinata there and Emma ended up with a baggie of candy. This morning she decided that it was a good time to try some of it out. She had a pack of Smarties and a Dum Dum lolly pop and then wanted more. This is our conversation from this morning...

Emma: I just want to have a yittle bit more.

Mommy: No, Emma you have had enough. We have to save some for another day.

Emma: Mommy, I am starting to feel very angry. Don't make me angry!

Mommy: I'm sorry you are angry Emma but you still can't have more candy.

Emma: Now I am going to be cranky for a yittle bit because I'm so angry!
